Amazon Price History – Privacy Policy
Chrome extension by Viralinc (viralinc.live). Last updated 25 September 2026. Contact: ope@trysixth.com
Amazon Price History shows the price history of the Amazon product page you have open and lets you set price and back-in-stock alerts. This page explains exactly what it reads, what it sends to our server, how long it is kept and who else handles it. Not affiliated with Amazon. Amazon is a trademark of Amazon.com, Inc.
Your consent comes first
The first time you open a product page, the extension shows a notice in the page that says exactly what would be shared, and asks you to choose. Until you make that choice, nothing is sent to our server and nothing is stored. Until you press Turn on shared price history, no price, product or page address is sent. If you choose Keep prices on this device only, the prices you see are saved only on your device and no price or page address is ever sent (alerts are then unavailable); the extension still checks your free trial and plan with our server, using only the random install ID and the minutes of use described below. You can change your choice at any time in the toolbar popup; turning sharing off deletes your alerts from our server.
What the extension reads
- It runs only on Amazon product pages (addresses containing
/dp/or/gp/product/) on the supported storefronts. - On those pages it reads the product number (ASIN), the price, the currency, whether the item is in stock, and the product title, as shown on the page you opened.
- It does not read your Amazon account, sign-in, cart, orders, addresses, payment details, search history or any other website.
- It never opens or fetches pages in the background. Prices come only from pages that users of the extension open themselves.
- It does not add affiliate tags and does not change any link on the page.
What is sent to our server (only after you choose)
Our server is at api-ext.viralinc.live (hosted on Netlify). The extension contacts no other server. Stripe’s payment pages open in a normal tab only if you choose an Unlimited plan or manage your subscription.
| When | What is sent |
|---|---|
| You open a product page (shared price history on) | One “sighting”: the storefront and ASIN, the product address without its query string (for example https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08N5WRWNW), the price, the currency, the stock state and the product title. If the page shows prices converted into another currency, nothing is sent. |
| The panel loads | A request for that item’s price history. |
| You set, list or delete an alert | The item, the condition (a target price, a percentage drop or back in stock) and how to tell you (a Chrome notification, or an email address for email alerts). |
| Every 45 minutes, while you have alerts | A request for any triggered alerts (the “inbox”). |
| Every request | A random install ID the extension creates when it is installed (it is not linked to your name, email or Google account), and the extension version. The server uses the install ID to check your free trial and whether Unlimited is on in this browser; there is no licence key. |
| About once per minute of active use during the free trial | A “heartbeat”: the number of seconds you actively used the extension (at most 90), with the install ID. Active use means the price history panel showing in the tab you are looking at, or the toolbar popup open, with a scroll, click, key press or mouse move in the last 60 seconds. Nothing is sent while you are idle, and no page address or price is part of it. |
| You open the toolbar popup, a product page (at most once an hour), or the plans screen | A request for your free trial and Unlimited status and the current Unlimited plans and prices (install ID only). |
| You choose a plan, Manage subscription or “Already paid? Restore” | Which plan you picked; for “Restore”, the email address you type, so we can email that address a one-time link if it bought Unlimited. You then pay or manage your subscription on Stripe’s own pages in a new tab. |
What the server keeps, and for how long
- Price history. Each sighting is stored as a time, a price and a stock state, pooled with other users’ sightings of the same item. Sightings are not linked to your install ID or to you. Sightings older than 400 days are dropped from an item’s history.
- Your install ID is stored only as a one-way hash, attached to your alerts and to daily request counters.
- Alerts are kept until you delete them in the toolbar list or press the unsubscribe link in an alert email. If you uninstall the extension without deleting them, they stay on the server attached to the hashed ID; email alerts can still be stopped with the link in any email, and you can ask us to delete them at ope@trysixth.com.
- Free trial. The seconds of active use counted so far, and when the trial started, kept against the hashed install ID and against a salted one-way hash of your network (so reinstalling does not restart the trial). Your IP address itself is not stored.
- Unlimited purchases. Stripe tells our server when you pay. We keep the plan, its status and end date, the Stripe customer and subscription numbers, a salted one-way hash of the email address you paid with and a masked form of it (for example
s***@example.com, shown in the popup), and the hashed install IDs of up to 5 browsers where Unlimited is on. We never receive or store card details. Stripe keeps its own payment records under its privacy policy. - Email address (email alerts only): kept only for that alert. Alerts start only after you press the confirmation link we email you. It is deleted when the alert is deleted or unsubscribed.
- Triggered alert notes are deleted as soon as the extension collects them, and after 30 days at most.
- Rate-limit counters use the hashed install ID and a hash of your IP address that changes every day. They are deleted after about 3 days. Your IP address itself is not stored.
- We keep no request bodies in logs, and we do not use analytics, advertising or tracking of any kind.
What stays on your device
In chrome.storage.local: your sharing choice, the random install ID, the last free trial and Unlimited status the server sent (time left, plan, plans and prices, end date, masked email), your alerts list, the prices you have seen yourself (so the panel still works when our server is unreachable; up to 500 items, 400 days), recently triggered alerts and a usage counter used once to ask whether you would like to rate the extension. “Clear my sightings” in the toolbar popup deletes your seen prices; uninstalling the extension deletes everything on the device.
Who else handles data
- Netlify hosts our server and its storage.
- Resend sends alert emails, only for users who set an email alert (the address, the product title and the price).
- Stripe handles Unlimited payments, subscriptions and cancellations on its own checkout and billing pages, which open in a new tab only when you choose to upgrade or manage your subscription. The extension never sees card details. Our server sends Stripe a hashed install ID (never the raw ID) with the plan you chose.
- Resend also sends the one-time “turn on Unlimited in this browser” email when you ask for it with “Already paid? Restore”.
- AI providers: none. This extension does not use AI: no text or image is sent to DeepSeek or to any other AI service.
We do not sell or share data with anyone else, and we use it only to show price history, deliver your alerts and run the free trial and your Unlimited plan.
Your choices
- Delete any alert from the toolbar popup, or stop an email alert with the link in any alert email.
- Clear the prices saved on your device with “Clear my sightings”.
- Turn off shared price history in the toolbar popup at any time: no more prices or page addresses are sent and your alerts are deleted from our server.
- Uninstall the extension to stop all collection. Sightings already pooled are anonymous and cannot be traced back to you.
- Email ope@trysixth.com with any question or deletion request.
