Summarize Article: Privacy Policy

Chrome extension "Summarize Article – Key Points & TL;DR of Any Web Page", published by Viralinc (viralinc.live). Last updated 25 September 2026.

In short: The text is sent only when you click, is not stored by Viralinc, and is processed by DeepSeek, a China-based AI provider that may use it to improve its models. There are no ads, no tracking and no account. The extension starts with a free trial, then needs an Unlimited plan paid through Stripe. With Unlimited, if Chrome's built-in AI is ready on your computer, the summary is made on your device and the text is not sent.

When the extension reads a page

Only when you ask: by clicking the toolbar icon, pressing the keyboard shortcut (Alt+S by default), or choosing "Summarize selection" from the right-click menu. It then reads that one tab once, using Chrome's activeTab permission. It does not run on pages in the background and does not look at your browsing history.

Before the first summary, the popup explains what will be sent and to whom, and asks you to press Agree and summarize. Nothing is sent to our server, not even the free-trial check, until you agree. If you choose No thanks, nothing is sent.

What is sent to our server

When a summary is made online (every summary during the free trial; with Unlimited, when it can't be made on your device), the extension sends one request to https://api-ext.viralinc.live:

ItemWhy
The page title and the main article text (up to about 24,000 characters), or the text you selectedTo write the summary
Your choices: length, format, languageTo write the summary the way you asked
A random install ID made when you installed the extensionTo run your free trial and to check whether Unlimited is on in this browser. It is not linked to your name, email or Google account. It is also sent, with nothing else, when the popup checks your trial or plan.
The extension versionTo keep old versions working
Only if you use "Already paid? Restore": the email address you typeTo email you a one-time link that turns Unlimited on in this browser

The server does not receive the page address (URL), your cookies, or anything else on the page.

What is kept, and for how long

Which AI provider processes the text

Summarize Article is not affiliated with Google, DeepSeek or Stripe.

What stays on your computer

These are saved in Chrome's extension storage on your computer and are never sent to us: your summary options and your last 20 summaries (page title, page address and summary text). The install ID and whether you agreed to the cloud-summary notice are kept there too. Press Clear in the History panel to delete the summaries, or uninstall the extension to delete everything.

On-device summaries

With Unlimited, if Chrome's built-in Summarizer (Gemini Nano) is already downloaded and ready on your computer, and your chosen language is one it supports, the summary is made on your device by Chrome and the text is not sent to Viralinc. During the free trial every summary is made online, because that is how the trial is measured. The extension never starts that model download itself.

Payments

After the free trial, Summarize Article needs an Unlimited plan: Unlimited Monthly or Unlimited Yearly (subscriptions that renew automatically until you cancel) or Unlimited Lifetime (a one-time payment). Unlimited is subject to fair use. The current prices are shown in the extension and on the Stripe page before you pay. When you choose a plan, the extension asks our server (api-ext.viralinc.live) to open a Stripe Checkout page in a new tab, and you pay there. Stripe (stripe.com) collects your email, name and card details under its own privacy policy; they never pass through the extension, and Viralinc never sees your card number.

After you pay, our server confirms the payment with Stripe. We keep: the plan, the payment status and the renewal or end date; a one-way hash of the install ID of each browser where Unlimited is on (at most 5); Stripe's customer and subscription IDs, so Manage subscription can open Stripe's billing page; and your email only as a salted one-way hash plus a masked form (like b***@example.com). We keep these while Unlimited is active and for as long as the law requires records of sales.

If you use Already paid? Restore, the email you type is sent to our server. If it matches a purchase, we send one email with a link that works once, for 1 hour, through our email provider (Resend). The answer on screen is the same whether or not the address has bought Unlimited.

Your trial and plan are checked on our server from the install ID each time the popup opens (and while a payment is being confirmed); the extension never unlocks Unlimited by itself. The popup checks only after you have agreed to the notice.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

The use of information received by this extension will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use the page text only to make the summary you asked for. We do not sell it, use it for advertising, use it to decide creditworthiness, or let people read it, and we do not transfer it except to the AI provider listed above (DeepSeek) to provide this feature. Payment details go only to Stripe, to process your payment.

Children

The extension is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal information about anyone.
